Turn to Starboard is offering people the chance to win a day out on the water – by entering a competition to name our new boat.
Turn to Starboard is one of 13 charities awarded a grant from the Forces’ fundraiser The Big Salute, and is looking for a name for its new rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB).
Enter the competition by suggesting a name for the RHIB and you could win a ‘day sail’ for you and your family.
The grant from The Big Salute – the Services Sound and Vision Corporation’s campaign to raise funds for armed forces charities – has been used to purchase the RHIB and the boat will be used as a support vessel and family engagement days. It will also be used for ongoing activities such as RYA Powerboat qualifications.
The winning name in the competition to name the RHIB will be chosen at random. The winner and their family will receive a ‘day sail’ on one of the training yachts, plus a trip on the new RHIB.
Post your suggestion on the Forces Radio BFBS Facebook page or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The competition will close at midnight on Thursday 24th May. All entries will go into a draw and a winner will be chosen at random and announced during Totally Connected on Friday 25th May. For full competition terms and conditions click here.
Each year the Big Salute invites online grant applications. For more information about how to apply and for fundraising ideas, go to www.bigsalute.com.
The ‘day sail’ prize will be for a maximum of five people.
Turn to Starboard will arrange a mutually convenient date with the winner for the ‘day sail’.
The ‘day sail’ will depart from Falmouth Marina, North Parade, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 2TD.
Travel costs to and from Falmouth Marina are not included in the prize.
Lunch plus tea and coffee will be provided as part of the ‘day sail’.
Life jackets will be provided for the ‘day sail’ and winners do not need to be able to swim.
There is no minimum age for participants of the ‘day sail’.
