Sailing voyage planned in memory of young friend to raise funds for charity

3rd May 2019

Family and friends of a man who tragically lost his life following a sea snake bite while in Australia are planning a fundraising event in his memory, in aid of Turn to Starboard.

According to his friend, Harry Evans loved “beers and sunsets and worked hard as a carpenter in Lyme Regis honing his skills, to build his own boat – The Last Leg.”

The 23-year-old was working on a fishing boat while spending time in Australia last year.

In his memory, Harry’s twin brother George and five close friends will test their endurance on a sailing trip on board the charity’s tall ship – Spirit of Falmouth – on May 11 in aid of the charity. The good-hearted group will be put through their paces on the one-day voyage, by hauling the sails, climbing the rigging and steering the vessel.

So far, the group has raised an amazing £1,073 (inc Gift Aid) for the charity – for which we offer our sincerest thanks. If you would like to donate, visit

Thank you.
