Turn to Starboard receives £20k charitable grant

19th July 2019

Turn to Starboard has been awarded a charitable grant of £20,000 by The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Greenwich Hospital towards the running costs of the charity for 2019/20.

The contribution will enable sailors and marines affected by military service to gain professional sailing qualifications and start new careers, as well as benefitting from the therapeutic effects of sailing and the sea.

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is the principal charity of the Royal Navy and exists to support to serving and retired sailors, marines and their families. The organisation was formed in 2007 to provide support to both serving and retired individuals and their dependents throughout life, mainly by giving grants to other organisations.

Turn to Starboard Operations Manager, Tamsin Mulcahy, said: “We are delighted to receive this grant which will support our work helping Armed Forces personnel affected by military operations and their families. This significant pot of money will enable us to provide career-building Royal Yachting Association (RYA) sailing courses to participants, along with family sailing trips to help family members re-engage in a completely new environment.”
