We are delighted to announce that a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery has awarded £18,000 to Turn to Starboard.

People’s Postcode Trust has raised millions of pounds for thousands of projects across Britain and internationally, by providing financial support for charities and good causes.

The funds will go towards the running costs of Turn to Starboard during 2019/20 and will help many Armed Forces personnel and veterans affected by operations to benefit from sail training courses and the therapeutic effects of sailing and the sea.

Turn to Starboard Bids and Grants Officer, Steve Richards, said: “We are thrilled to have received this award, which is crucial to our work delivering life-changing sailing opportunities to injured veterans.

“These funds will help many individuals to learn new skills, rebuild confidence and regain a sense of value along with gaining professional sailing qualifications to help start new careers in the marine industry.”

More than 350 projects received funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery last year, and 32 per cent of each lottery ticket bought goes to good causes. Last year the lottery made £4 million available to local charities.
