JasHawker1Jas Hawker is Director of Business Development at Mission Excellence Ltd.

During a very successful career in the RAF, Jas was for three years Commanding Officer and Leader of the Red Arrows.

He  has also held senior roles at the Ministry of Defence and  at the NATO led ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) in Afghanistan.

Jas joined the Royal Air Force aged 18 and went on to be the youngest ever pilot to fly the Tornado ground attack aircraft on the front-line. He has served on 4 operational squadrons taking part in both training and operational deployments all over the world. In 2007 he was selected to be Commanding Officer and leader of the world famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows.

Jas has personal experience of world-class high performance teams; of executing cross-functional projects in large complex organisations, and of balancing the tension between risk, safety, and performance outcomes. He was qualified to lead any scale of combat mission in any part of the world. In 1999 he joined the Red Arrows for 3 years, and in 2007 he was selected to become their Commanding Officer and Team Leader.

In this role, Jas was responsible for all aspects of Red Arrows’ operations including risk and safety management. He led the Red Arrows on overseas tours to the USA, Middle and Far East and has performed over 500 public displays. Jas has undertaken a number of non-flying appointments within the Ministry of Defence; advising senior military officers and civil servants on strategic policy and planning issues.

He has practical experience of operational level campaign planning having deployed to Afghanistan as a Senior Air Advisor, he now consults to global corporations. Using unique cockpit footage, he is able to draw clear parallels with the commercial world and offer tangible and practical insights into execution, risk management, high performance and the importance of continual improvement.
